On the occasion of Arty Show Biel/Bienne 2025, the Swatch Art Peace Hotel proudly presents Words Breathe Art, a project by Swiss painter Philip Royce Earnhart and Austrian writer Roland Schwarz.
In autumn 2024, Philip Royce Earnhart and Roland Schwarz met in Shanghai, both working as artists-in-residence at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel. Roland was in the process of collecting life-changing book anecdotes from people in Shanghai, while Philip was seeking enchanting stories to translate onto canvas. The result of this exchange is Words Breathe Art: ten stories about people whose lives were given a new direction by a particular book, visually interpreted.
